Let’s try this one on, for example: “Galveston Police Are Uncertain if an Escaped Monkey Is Alive or Dead After Its Owners Stopped Cooperating With an Investigation.”

Hot rods, rat rods, vintage trailers and more are lining up to take part in the Galveston Island Beach Revue's online car show!

  • No models after 1975.
  • Prizes are awarded in Best in Show, Best Club Participation, and Judge's Choice

Entries are required to submit one high-resolution image, exterior only, of their classic entry to will.wright@galvestonhistory.org. Images are due by Wednesday, July 29, and will be shown as part of a virtual competition on Saturday, August 1 from www.galvestonhistory.org and www.beachrevue.com as well as online social media channels.

Free parking redistributed along Seawall Boulevard Galveston, TX – May 28, 2020 –  Seawall Boulevard to redistribute the spaces. The City installed new signs, changed previous signage, and repainted the street as necessary to mark the free spaces. The new free parking zones are located on the north side of Seawall Blvd. in the following areas: between 12th and 19th streets, 33rd and 39th streets, 53rd and 61st streets, and 85th to the 9100 block of Seawall. There are about 220 free parking spaces, or about 10 percent of the total number of spaces on the Seawall.

The Hotel Galvez is a historic hotel located in Galveston, Texas that opened in 1911. The building was named the Galvez, honoring Bernardo de Gálvez, 1st Viscount of Galveston, for whom the city was named. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 4, 1979.
